Established in the early 1980s from the Kenora Women’s Crisis Intervention Project, the centre grew out of local efforts to support women experiencing violence while advocating for safer, more equitable communities. Even in the face of resistance, local activists continued their work, transforming Women’s Place into a hub for education, advocacy, and connection.

Today, Women’s Place Kenora continues this legacy by creating spaces where people can learn, share experiences, and access support.
