Built in 1841 by Joseph Doiron—Acadian farmer, writer, justice of the peace, and community leader—the house once served as a private residence, school, and gathering place for community discussions and debate. At the time, it was considered a luxurious Acadian home and remains an important architectural and cultural landmark today.

One of its most unique features is the preserved original masonry hearth—the only known example still remaining in an Acadian house.

After remaining in the Doiron family for generations, the property was acquired by the City of Dieppe in 2016 to protect and share its historical significance.

Visitor experience
Doiron House offers an immersive visit where history, technology, and humour come together. Guided tours, led by interpreters in traditional Acadian costume, bring local stories to life in an engaging and memorable way.
