The Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections building was originally a guardhouse for the F Division of the Northwest Mounted Police and was located on the Barracks site on 10th Avenue West between 19th and 24th Street. The building was built around 1888.  It was donated to the Historical Society in 1972 and opened as a museum in 1985 by a group of interested individuals.

In this building, Saskatchewan Provincial Police, Northwest Mounted Police / Royal Northwest Mounted Police / Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Saskatchewan Penitentiary, Prince Albert City Police, and Provincial Corrections histories are highlighted.

Fun Facts

The current Provincial Correctional Centre is the third provincial/territorial jail in the City; first opening in the 1800’s.

The museum building is the oldest building operated by the Historical Society.

The building was not meant to stay in its location… power lines stopped the movement to the chosen location.
